Tea Time

It is thought that the British have three ways of breaking the ice: drinks, weather and pets.

Sharing a drink whether hot or cold is the way British people bond indoors.
It is a popular saying in Britain tea culture, as in "It's time for a cuppa!" (A "cuppa" is short for a "cup of tea." This term dates back to the early 1900s)

Letting our pets sniff each other is the way we bond outdoors.

The totally acceptable ignition for any conversation is the weather. It is always there and it is always about to change. “Cold/hot enough for you?” is perfect as it uses the weather to make a general inquiry about the other person’s comfort levels.

It’s a miniature queue – let’s establish if the weather is OK for you first. It’s impossible to talk rubbish about British weather because normally it is rubbish.
